
Zurich, April 17, 2007 - The start of 2007 was characterized by continued strong demand and correspondingly positive growth figures. The number of orders and sales rose by 24% and 14%, respectively, compared to the first quarter of 2006.
The Electrical Business Unit enjoyed particularly high growth, where orders received grew by 32 % to CHF 134.8 million and sales by 18 % to CHF 115.3 million. Orders received and sales in the Industrial Business Unit increased by 5% each to CHF 40.9 million and CHF 38.0 million, respectively. Geographically, sales on the American market fell slightly, while sales in both the Asian and European markets achieved double-digit growth.
The rise in the price of copper resulted in a sales increase of approximately 6% in the first quarter of 2007.
Von Roll remains confident that it will achieve the EBIT margin of 8% in 2007, which is one year earlier than originally announced.
